It is with deep sadness that the M31 Movement joins the nation in mourning the passing of Charles Mapalume, popularly known as Marabha, who died this morning at Harare Hospital.
Marabha was not just a comedian he was a voice of the people. Through his humble yet powerful performances, he reflected the daily struggles, resilience, and humour of the ordinary Zimbabwean. His ability to use laughter as a tool for healing and social commentary made him a revolutionary artist in his own right.
At a time when many had lost hope, Marabha brought joy to the streets, becoming a symbol of the working-class spirit and survival. As the M31 Movement, which stands for justice, dignity, and people power, we recognise Marabha as a cultural freedom fighter a man who stood with the people, for the people.
His passing is a painful reminder of how this nation has failed its artists the very souls who carry the emotional weight of the people without the recognition or support they deserve. Marabha should have died a national hero, not a forgotten legend.
We call on all citizens, creatives, and community leaders to honour his legacy by fighting for a Zimbabwe where artists are valued, protected, and celebrated in life not just in death.
Rest in Power, Charles “Marabha” Mapalume. Your laughter was revolutionary. Your legacy lives on.
