Harare – Monday, April 21, 2025
In a bold and escalating call to action, General Blessing Geza has updated the timeline for the much-anticipated national Stay Away, announcing that the shutdown will no longer last just two days. Instead, it will begin on Monday, April 22 and continue indefinitely until President Emmerson Mnangagwa steps down and a transitional authority is installed.
Originally set for April 22–23, the peaceful protest has evolved into what Geza describes as a total national shutdown for liberation, with citizens urged to stay home, close their businesses, and withdraw participation from all government-controlled institutions.
In his latest public address, Geza intensified his message by naming and shaming a list of individuals he accuses of looting the country and contributing to Zimbabwe’s economic collapse. The names include:
Kudakwashe Tagwirei
Wicknell Chivhayo
Scott Sakupwanya
Daniel Garwe
George Guvamatanga
Owen “Mudha” Ncube
…and others
Geza labeled them “economic criminals” and claimed they are in contact with elements within the security sector. He urged Zimbabwean citizens to treat these individuals as enemies of the state and ordered that, “if seen in public, they must be placed under peaceful citizen’s arrest.”
“These individuals have robbed the nation blind,” Geza said. “They are noot untouchable. The people must act lawfully, peacefully, and boldly.”
The M31 Movement, a leading civic organization advocating for democracy, has fully endorsed Geza’s call for indefinite shutdown and action against corruption. In a statement, the group said:
“General Geza is echoing the voice of millions. Zimbabwe cannot move forward while the same corrupt elite destroys what’s left of our economy and dignity.”

Geza’s campaign is built on five core demands:
1. The immediate resignation of Emmerson Mnangagwa and his government.
2. Formation of a transitional authority made up of respected, neutral citizens.
3. Free and fair elections with international supervision.
4. Release of all political prisoners.
5. Accountability for economic crimes and an end to looting.
Online, the Stay Away call is gaining momentum, with hashtags like #ShutdownApril22, #GezaLeads, and #ArrestTheLooters trending. Citizens across major cities have begun preparing for the shutdown, with reports of early compliance from transport operators, vendors, and students.
The government has not yet responded formally, but security forces are reportedly on standby. M31 has issued a clear warning to the regime:
