Opening Scripture Readings:
Matthew 28:6 “He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”
Isaiah 58:6 “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the chains of injustice, to untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?”
Ecclesiastes 4:1 “Again I saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun. Behold, the tears of the oppressed, and they had no one to comfort them!”
Exodus 5:1 “Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.”

Fellow Zimbabweans,
Today is not just a church service it is a call to resurrection. And not the resurrection of one man only, but the resurrection of a nation that has been buried in darkness for too long.
We gather under the shadow of the Cross, yes but we gather with eyes fixed on the empty tomb. Because our God is not dead, and neither is our country.
Jesus Christ was arrested like a common criminal. He was tortured by an imperial state. He was mocked by religious leaders who bowed to Caesar. He was nailed to a cross while the crowd was told, “This is your king!”
Does it sound familiar, Zimbabwe?
When opposition leaders are abducted or imprisoned it is the crucifixion repeated.
When citizens are silenced for speaking truth, it is the Sanhedrin’s trial again.
When the poor go hungry while the elite fly to Dubai, it is Golgotha, every day.
But hear this, and hear it clearly:
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5)
And today is our morning.

To ZANU-PF:
You are the Roman Empire in a liberation disguise.
You preach peace while you crucify truth.
But the stone is rolling away, and soon, you too will tremble at the angel’s voice.
To the Youth of Zimbabwe:
“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example…” (1 Timothy 4:12)
The resurrection is your mission.
Don’t wait for old men in mansions to free you.
Christ rose at 33. This is your time.
To the Church:
“Woe to you, teachers of the law…for you shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces.” (Matthew 23:13)
Do not be chaplains of tyranny. Be prophets of freedom.
To every oppressed Zimbabwean in the diaspora and at home:
God does not forget His people.
“I have seen the misery of my people… I have heard their cries… and I have come down to deliver them.” (Exodus 3:7-8)
So rise.
Rise from fear.
Rise from silence.
Rise from betrayal.
Because Christ is Risen and Zimbabwe must rise with Him!
—
The Resurrection Means This:
We will not bow to Pharaohs wearing liberation colors.
We will not be slaves in the land of our ancestors.
We will not let the gospel be used to justify dictatorship.
We will not stop until justice rolls down like waters. (Amos 5:24)
—
Today, M31 says:
Let the youth rise.
Let the poor rise.
Let the truth rise.
Let Zimbabwe rise!
Because if Jesus could rise from the grave, then surely, Zimbabwe can rise from ZANU-PF!
—
Closing Scripture: Romans 13:11
“And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.”
—
Let us pray:
God of the Exodus, God of the Empty Tomb,
Raise Zimbabwe from the grave of tyranny.
Bless the courage of the young.
Strengthen the hands of the oppressed.
And let justice reign on earth as it is in heaven.
Amen.
